It seems that workers, apart from the holidays, will be able to enjoy 14 days of public holidays, of which 10 will be national, 2 regional, and 2 local, and therefore will depend directly on the City Councils of each locality.
These are the 8 public holidays common throughout Spain:
- January 1: New Year, Friday.
- April 2: Good Friday.
- May 1: Labor Day, Saturday.
- October 12: National Holiday, Tuesday.
- November 1: All Saints' Day, Monday.
- December 6: Constitution Day, Monday.
- December 8: Immaculate Conception Day, Wednesday.
- December 25: Christmas, Saturday.
There will also be 3 other national holidays that the autonomous communities can choose not to celebrate and replace with other holidays:
- Wednesday 6 January (Epiphany of the Lord)
- Thursday 1 April (Holy Thursday)
- Monday 16 August (Monday following the Assumption of the Virgin, 15 August, which this year falls on a Sunday).
In the case of Three Kings Day, all the communities have chosen to maintain this holiday, so it will be another national holiday common to the entire territory. Thursday 1 April will be a holiday in all communities except Catalonia and the Valencian Community, while Monday 16 August will be a holiday only in Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, the Canary Islands and Castile and León.
Regarding the Father's Day holiday, March 19, it will only be a holiday in 2021 in the Valencian Community, Extremadura, the Community of Madrid, Murcia, Galicia, Navarre and the Basque Country.
Another great novelty in 2021 is that there will be 2 big long weekends, the first will be the one that can be done in connection with the holiday on October 12, which will fall on Tuesday, and the second will be the traditional long weekend of the Puríssima in which up to 5 days of celebration can be done, since Constitution Day will be a Monday and the other holiday on Wednesday.
