Who has to pay for wifi when working remotely?

While waiting for the law that must regulate how to work from home to be finalized, there are many issues on the table that need to be resolved urgently, such as who should pay for wifi when working remotely, or who should provide the technical and ergonomic means that guarantee prevention of occupational risks in this context.

As we have already mentioned in other posts, teleworking has gone from 8% to almost 80% during the Covid 19 crisis, and many organizations had to improvise and left many questions unanswered, and one of them is precisely who should take care of the costs of internet connection and mobile telephony while teleworking.

Experts point out that it should be the company that assumes this type of expense, as well as all the necessary material, computers, telephones, office supplies, etc. to be able to carry out work activities from home, although the limits of this expense should be defined very well in advance, since there may also be a part that corresponds to the needs of the home and/or family unit from which the work is done.

In the same way, the material used for teleworking will also have a dual purpose (family and work), and surely if it is used to work from home it will wear out much faster, and therefore the employer should also assume this part of the expense.

All these concepts, as well as the measures that must be adopted to prevent occupational risks while teleworking, are complicated to define and quantify, which is why this new Law that the government is preparing is being awaited and that must regulate all these aspects that are now the source of many doubts and questions.

What is much easier to implement are systems, such as Timenet, to record working hours and ensure that people who telework do not work excessive overtime.
