What has happened to teleworking three years after Covid?

Three years after Covid, teleworking continues to be in force in some companies, although without complying with what is stipulated in its Law, since according to a recent survey carried out among teleworkers in Madrid, it seems that many organizations do not compensate their staff for the expenses derived from this practice.

According to data from this same survey, the region where the most teleworking is done (60%) is in Madrid, and the results also reflect that 7 out of 10 people work outside of their working hours, in their free time, among other characteristics derived from post-pandemic teleworking.

According to another study published by the Madrid Ministry of Labor, in which 1,900 workers/hours in the region were surveyed between September and November 2022, Madrid is the largest focus of teleworking, and also the territory in which this formula has increased the most compared to before Covid.

It should be noted that the results of this study can be perfectly extrapolated to what can be seen in other Autonomous Communities, and that is that many companies flagrantly fail to comply with the Teleworking Law, since they have not regularized this practice according to the minimum requirements of the Law, such as signing an individualized teleworking contract, setting a compensation for expenses, and providing materials, such as PCs, ergonomic chairs, etc.

In many other cases, companies have withdrawn or reduced the possibility of teleworking during 2022, so as not to have to comply with the legal requirements of the most common teleworking, and for this reason the figures of occasional teleworking are increasing.
