Is there enough digital talent?

Currently, digital talent is one of the main challenges for companies, as traditional educational systems are not preparing future workers to keep up with technological advances and the skills needed to fill new jobs.

According to a survey by the “Fundación Universidad Empresa (FUE), 70% of university students believe that the content is not adapted to business needs, and especially that they are not trained in the skills that companies value the most, such as critical thinking, creativity and innovation.

In addition, six out of 10 students say they are not professionally prepared when they leave school, while 90% believe that additional training is not necessary to adapt their profile to what companies demand.

In the same vein, a study carried out by Eurostat in December 2021, 56% of young Spanish people between 18 and 25 years old consider that the current education system does not prepare them to find a job, since there is an enormous gap between what is learned in class and what the labor market later demands.

And according to the report on Employment and Social Development in Europe 2022, published by the European Commission, the long-term prospects of the youth labor market, not only depend on their ability to participate in the current labor market, if not also on whether their skills can meet the future needs of the market.

In this sense, the Spanish State has carried out a profound reform of Vocational Training, which promotes the modernization of this education, and makes the CV tend to be more competency-based, and there is an increase in investment to improve digital skills.

Talent digital

With this new Law, all VET students will have part of their training in companies, with two modalities, one general, and the other intensive, depending on the time the students spend in these practices.
