Is teleworking mandatory or not?

In mid-October, there was some confusion about whether teleworking is mandatory or not, the result of contradictory statements between the Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Families of the Generalitat de Catalunya, who stated to RAC1 that it was mandatory, and the Minister of the Presidency and Government Spokesperson who explained that it is not mandatory due to lack of legal coverage.

In order to clarify this doubt, a declaration has been issued jointly signed by the Generalitat, C.C.O.O., UGT, Foment del Treball and Pimec, which explains that face-to-face work can only be done in cases where mobility is essential, and when it is not possible to work remotely, in these situations it will be necessary to provide staggered entries and exits and flexible working hours.

In the rest of the cases, both companies and workers are obliged to telework to reduce mobility and the risk of Covid-19 infections, this was the reminder made by the Labor Relations Council (CRL) to completely clarify doubts on this issue.

One of the best business decisions, in times as uncertain as the current ones, may be the implementation of systems, such as Timenet, that allow the recording of working hours in person, and also remotely, using only a device with an internet connection.

These are times when organizations must seek flexibility and agility, they must be able to make changes quickly and easily, and be able to control employee dedication to specific projects from anywhere.

Teleworking is mandatory

Our Timenet system is an online application that makes available to any company a schedule control system, both in person and remotely, through which you can easily manage your employees' working hours, the time dedicated to projects, tasks or services, work calendars, staff holidays and comply with labor law which since May 2019 requires mandatory registration of working hours.
