The number of job postings that mention the word “telework” appears to have increased by 16% between May 2020 and April 2021, and according to the latest predictions, it is expected to continue growing.
This study shows that flexible work solutions are not only the result of the pandemic, but that telework had already begun to gain popularity by the end of 2019, when 3.3% of job postings already included this option compared to 2.8% in January of that same year.
Although the harshest restrictions caused by the coronavirus seem to be behind us in many countries, job postings with direct references to telework continue to grow, as people want to continue working remotely, and companies are responding to this demand in their job postings.
The IT sector has experienced the greatest growth in teleworking, but the percentage of jobs with references to teleworking has also increased in other sectors such as Administration and Call Centers, Public Services, Finance and Insurance, and Communication.
However, it seems that people with higher qualifications have much greater chances of obtaining remote work contracts, especially in sectors such as Information and Communication, Scientific Activities or Real Estate.
